Bernard Douglas Stevens

Sumner – Bernard Douglas Stevens, 71, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2024, at his home in Sumner. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Doug was born in Sumner on April 6, 1953.
He attended local schools and joined the Army after graduating high school. While home on leave from the Army, he met Patricia. They were married on July 6, 1974. They settled down in Sumner and raised their three daughters. Doug worked at A.C. Lawerance and then spent nearly 40 years as a self-employed logger.
Doug enjoyed many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed being in the woods and was an avid hunter. He loved deer hunting, coon hunting, competition archery shoots, snowmobile racing on Pleasant Pond, truck racing at Oxford Plains speedway, as well as boxing in his younger days. Doug loved having coffee and socializing with his best friend, Ricky Farrar at the garage. He had an adventurous spirit and great sense of humor. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His greatest joy was being a grandfather to his three granddaughters: Emma, Addison and Marly. The many memories made will always be cherished.
He was predeceased by his mother, Jane Stevens; his father, Darwin Stevens; and his brother, Jimmy.
Doug is survived by his wife, Patricia Stevens, his daughters, Amanda Stevens and wife Deb Smith, Erica Stevens and John Roberts, Angie Stevens and Josh Jasper.
