Cathryn E. Lovejoy passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 20, 2025 at the Maine Veterans Home. She was born in Long Beach, California on April 13, 1929 to Alanson R. and Fanne L. Waterhouse Cummings. Her parents moved back to West Paris, Maine in 1932. She graduated from West Paris High School in 1947. She was married to Cleveland Lovejoy in 1947 and in 1954 they moved to the Flat Road in West Bethel where they lived for 64 years. She was a life member of the Jackson Silver Auxiliary Unit #68. She held the offices of Chaplin, Secretary and served as President for 3 years when her husband Cleveland was commander of the Post.
Cathryn was a member of the West Bethel Union Church, Pleasant Valley Bible Church and for the last 30 plus years a member of the Nazarene Church where she played the piano along with Cleveland on the organ. They played for chapel
services at the Maine Veterans Home and Ledgeview Nursing Home for years as well.
Cathryn worked in the late 60’s for Gilbert’s Trading Post, in the 70’s for Rolfe’s Apparel Shop, Fashion Basket, Brass Buckle and in the 80’s did house cleaning for several clients. Then in 1986 started working for W. J. Wheeler Ins. Co. for 11 years and then for the next 13 years and 8 months went to work for Maine Line Products. An accident one day before her 82nd birthday ended her working days.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her son Alanson and his wife Tyrene Lovejoy, daughter Dorothy and husband Ray West, and daughter Ellen and husband Rick Whitney, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson due to be born in June.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday June 8, 2025 at 1 PM at the Jackson-Silver American Legion Post 68, Greenwood with Pastor Peter Carter officiating.
