We are all very saddened to hear of Mary Jo’s passing. She was such a lovely, sweet person. Recently, we have enjoyed hearing stories of days gone by and of family members through phone conversations with my sister, Kari. My mother, Ruth, was very close to her Aunt Mary and when Mary Jo came along, she was very much the doted on baby cousin! In our family, whenever my mother was asked how old someone was, she always started with, « Now let me see. Well, Mary Jo was born in ‘33, so, that would make them... ». We always waited for this point of reference statement ! We have such nice memories of past visits with Mary Jo in Maine or here in Saint John. Mary Jo very kindly came to help my mother with nursing care of my mother’s sister, Netta, years ago. My mother was very fond of Mary Jo and was always so happy to hear Mary Jo’s voice. At 100, she wanted to renew her passport so she could go visit Mary Jo! Certainly, our family here is thinking of your family at this time. Mary Jo will always have a special place in our family’s memories. Lynn Kristoffersen

My deepest sympathy go out to all of Mary jos family at this time. I was so glad to reconnect with her several years ago and to have two of my sons also meet her. I was so pleased to talk with her just recently and know she will be missed by many.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Gram. I know the memories you hold will bring you comfort at this time. Mary Jo was very special to her Canadian family. She was my mum's first cousin and a frequent visitor to our home when I was a young child. Whenever we chatted on the phone, I enjoyed hearing her stories from the past and of course the recent ones of her grandchildren and great grandchildren She was so proud of all of you. Our deepest sympathy. She will be missed! Louise and Ross Stevenson Ontario, Canada
