Michelle Lea (Crockett) Cary
Portland

Michelle Lea (Crockett) Cary passed away at Maine Medical Center in Portland from complications following heart surgery. Michelle was born on August 22, 1969, the daughter of Lillian Brooks and Howard Crockett. She attended schools in Locke Mills, Bethel, and graduated from Telstar High School. She was married to Ron Cary on May 21, 1989 at the Locke Mills Union Church with Silver Leamon officiating. Over the years they were blessed with a daughter, Althea Jean (AJ) and a son Richard.
She attended the Locke Mills church for many years and she and Ron were leaders of the youth group. Michelle worked 18 years as a CNA at Norway Rehabilitation and Ledgeview Nursing Home until her health deteriorated.
She joined Judith Grover Tent #17, Daughters of Union veterans of the Civil War when she was 15 years old. She held many offices in the Tent and was also President of the Department of Maine DUVCW.
Her last birthday was spent in Maine Medical Center. The entire staff of the Cardiac Care Unit surprised her with a birthday party complete with cake and gifts.
Michelle is survived by her husband Ron and children AJ and Richard all of Bryant Pond; her parents, Lillian Brooks of Bethel and Howard Crockett and his wife Donna of Florida. She also leaves brother Michael and his fiancé Tabatha and children Keith, Victoria, Kory and Renae; brother Jeffrey and his wife Amalia and their daughter Emilie; as well as her special “Mom-in-law” Helvi Cary and many beloved Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
She was a devoted wife and mother and loving friend to all.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston and the staff of Maine Medical Center for her care throughout the years. A special thank you to Lori & Kate, Drs. Hourihan, Coffin, Carpenter, Shao, Sawyer, Givertz and McGrath and the staff at the Heart Clinic in Maine Medical Center
Services will be held at the Locke Mills Union Church on Friday November 17th at 12 noon with Pastor Silver Moore-Leamon officiating. Interment will be in the East Bethel Cemetery.
