Sidney M. Abbott Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13,2023. He was born
July 01,1935 to Sidney M. Abbott Sr. and “Alma” Davenport Abbott. Sidney was always referred to as
Sid, his father went by Skip. He graduated High school from West Paris High school in 1955. He married
the love of his Life Geraldine B. (Watt) Andrews on July 29, 1956.
Sid worked various jobs after High School from harvesting wood, to being a Mechanic at trap
Corner Store/Garage. He entered Military service on March 03, 1958 through March 16, 1961. During
which time he did basic at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. While stationed at Fort Benning, GA in February
his oldest son Dannie was born. Shortly thereafter he was sent to Korea for a year. He achieved the rank
of E-4. He was recalled to service on May 02, 1962 through August 1962 due to the Cuban Missile crisis.
Once out of the service He and Arden Andrews worked the wheeler mine in Gilead, ME. They
were the last to work the mine, as during one of the last blasts a spring was hit that filled the mine with
water. During this time Sid’s 2 nd child Vicki was born on April 06,1962. He then moved to Westbrook and
went to work for Arnold Machinery, a caterpillar dealer working on heavy equipment. He then worked
for Gordon’s construction running heavy equipment. In 1964 his third child Clay was born on Aug 05.
In September of 1965 he bought the house and garage of Stan Hibler and ran the garage till
1968 when he bought a skidder and a couple wheelers and went to work in harvesting wood. He
employed several local men during this time. He expanded the business to include a tractor trailer in
1970 with a brand new AutoCar. He sold off the skidders and focused on trucking. When times were
slow, he hauled junk cars he crushed, to the shedder in Leeds. He did this until 1979 when he bought a
Kenworth with a sleeper and hauled Steam Coal out of Agawam MA. to cement plants in Canada until
late 82. At this time he went back to hauling logs for a couple years before going into construction. He
always tried to find a niche and specialized in Jacking and moving buildings till the time his health no
longer permitted him the ability to do, so in his early 80’s.
Sid was very active in churches, even aided in building 2, the West Sumner Bible Church in
Sumner and Faith Bible Chapel of Buckfield where he was a member until his death.
Predeceased by his Parents Sidney Sr. and Alma Abbott, brother Earle (Bud) F. Abbott, In-laws
Laura and Richard Andrews, William F Watt, Wife Geraldine B. Abbott. He is survived by his three
children Dannie Abbott, wife Deana, Vicki Farrar, husband Darin, and Clay, wife Kat, all of West Paris. 6
grandchildren Tristan Wood, husband Jordan of Manchester NH, Laura Abbott of Phenix AZ, Develan
Abbott of West Paris, Cody Abbott, Wife Liis of Ole Town, Reed Farrar of Chicago IL, Jarod Farrar wife
Liliana of Dallas TX, Raymond Perry of South Paris, Beth Perry of Brunswick. Two Great grandsons
Cameron Wood and brother Conner of Manchester NH. Sister-in-law Linda Abbott of Tampa Fl. And
niece Eren Dooley of Lithia Fl.
